President Szerelemhegyi Dzsesszika, or just "Jessica" to her friends, is the totally legitimate president of a totally free and totally democratic Free Democratic People's Republic of Almorra, a post-Soviet country in the Balkans. Well, it's all a sham. She's a figurehead dictator put in place by a shadowy cabal running her country. Jessica is keeping the presidential chair warm for her baby cousin, who's too young to be a bloody autocrat just yet. Jessica accepted the terms because it promised her unimaginable riches and luxuries as long as she stayed put with being a figurehead. She may have learned some funny ideas like "free press" and "free association" and "labor rights" during her studies abroad, but her job is to ignore such dangerous thoughts.
